- Mechanism of action
- Modulates the activity of the noradrenergic and serotonergic systems. Activates µ and δ opioid receptors with analgesic effect. Inhibits the release of ACTH and normalizes the circadian rhythm of cortisol.

- 200–500 mcg subcutaneously or intranasally 30 minutes before bedtime.

- Drowsiness, vivid dreams, occasional headache. Generally well tolerated.
