Mechanism of action
Modulates the activity of the noradrenergic and serotonergic systems. Activates µ and δ opioid receptors with analgesic effect. Inhibits the release of ACTH and normalizes the circadian rhythm of cortisol.

200–500 mcg subcutaneously or intranasally 30 minutes before bedtime.
Reported adverse effects
Drowsiness, vivid dreams, occasional headache. Generally well tolerated.
