GLP-1 (7-37)

Endogenous incretin that regulates postprandial glucose and satiety. The molecular basis of drugs such as semaglutide and liraglutide, which have a very short half-life in their native form.

Also known as: Glucagon-like Peptide-1 · GLP-1 receptor agonist

Mechanism of action
It binds to the GLP-1R receptor on pancreatic beta cells, stimulating glucose-dependent insulin secretion. It inhibits gastric emptying, reduces glucagon secretion, and acts on the hypothalamus to decrease appetite.
Reported research ranges
Native form with a very short half-life. It is used as a molecular reference.
Reported adverse effects
Mild nausea in its native form. See analogs for clinical data.
Storage and handling
Store at 2–8 °C.
