Mechanism of action
Disrupts bacterial membranes through electrostatic interactions and forms lipid pores. Additionally, it activates FPRL1, TLR4, and P2X7 receptors, modulating pro-inflammatory cytokines and stimulating neutrophil chemotaxis.
Reported research ranges
100–500 mcg subcutaneously daily. Also available in topical formulations.
Reported adverse effects
Local irritation, erythema at the injection site. Risk of excessive inflammation at high doses.
