- GLP-1 receptor agonist that stimulates glucose-dependent insulin secretion, inhibits glucagon, delays gastric emptying, and acts on the hypothalamus to reduce appetite and caloric intake.

- 0.25 mg subcutaneously per week (initial), escalating to 2.4 mg/week based on tolerance.

- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (especially at the onset), constipation, pancreatitis (rare), diabetic retinopathy.
